Because I purchased a stick of PC150, yes good old sdram. And to my knowledge it still works (not that I run it, but occasionally I have used it for testing). And in fact it work exactly as stated. PC150 - 2,3,2 timings. @ 133 I could do 2,2,2 but that had to be bumped to get above 138 or so.

That and I harped to my form employer they should carry it, and finally they did. You know what, we had less problems with it then we did with any other name brand memory. When people wanted "the good stuff" this is what they got.

I'm one of those people who will happily pay a bit more for top shelf stuff.

When I was looking for RAM a few months ago, after not having built a computer since the Pentium 166 days, Mushkin was the ONLY brand that NOBODY had complaints about. (Well, aside from the horrendously slow rebates, but that's another topic...)

I bought mushkin because I saw that there was an active communication channel here. Most products nowadays are reasonably similar so for me I weight product purchase decisions on customer support, community involvement and warranties.

Ditto regarding the support responses, various forum threads, and warranty.

I just completed a new build, after two months of researching the various components. I decided on a Gigabyte X48 MB, and several forums carried threads on how much these MB's "love" Mushkin memory. So, I bought some Mushkin from Newegg. Installed the HD, 4 Gig memory, and video card and prepared to boot for the first time - expecting, as has always happened in previous builds, to go thru several hours of tweaking, rebooting, setting voltages, fiddling with BIOS settings, clearing CMOS, etc - all those things many novices (I am one) who have ever built a computer know by heart. Much to my surprise, the computer booted immediately, I made a few BIOS setting changes, installed the OS, updated various drivers, and was well on the way to installing user programs and having some fun playing games.

The Mushkin memory is the ONLY memory I've ever installed that worked right off the bat! Guess the Gigabyte MB's do love Mushkin.

Wanted to upgrade to 2x2GB and I am always looking for the Best Ram for the money. I have used Mushkin in the past (DDR Days)with outstanding results. Sadly when I switched to DDR2 Mushkin was quite a bit out of my price range and very difficult to get; LOL even Though I live in Colorado where they originated from.

Bottom line is that right now Mushkin seems like the Best, most reliable ram for the money with better OC results along with performance! I am not dedicated to any one manufacturer; it all depends on who has the best price/performance for me. At this current moment for a few more $ than other competitors Mushkin seems to have better ram for the money. Also got a rebate Which all of us usually hate. Just ordered a set today; cant wait for them to arrive so i can check them out!

I voted for quality, but the main reason is that Mushkin is based in the USA!

I purchased 2-sets of the Ascent Series XP2-8500 (2x2GB) because of Mushkin's superior patented eVCI heatsink design and their reputation as being the best memory manufacturer !!!

Never had Mushkin before, but being a nut for research I took some time and found many favorable reviews on Newegg and this may be strange, but I liked the way the heat sink looked & felt it would do the job. It has proven to be a great addition to my system (and future systems)...Now- Asus M2N32 SLI Deluxe - AMD 6400+ OC'D to 3487.5, 1.45 volts - Your Memory 996587 @ 5-4-4-12, 2.1 volts - XFX 9800 GX2 OC'D to 650,1100,1625. Thanx for a quality product!!!

Well, first off, Mushkin is pretty well known for making high quality RAM where I hang out, so that was definitely a deciding factor. Also throw in the decent price compared to the competitors, and the awesome customer support record, and you've got yourself a winner.

Let's not forget about the aesthetics, just look at Mushkin's product line. It's sexy.
Image rockin. it with <mushkin.
