Any of our tri channel kits over 1333 would be fine for the overclocking.
With an i7 920 you can run 6 memory multi would only result in 1080Mhz on the ram with 3.6Ghz on the cpu.
8 would be 1440 , 10 would be 1800 , etc.

You can also use a lower cpu multi to get ram upto 1600Mhz using a higher fsb.

I am going with the Asus P6T Deluxe and was looking to go for the 1600 3 channel kit 7-8-7-20 is it? I thought these would be better than the 1333 6-6-6 kit at those speeds for stability, I plan on trying 4 Ghz and 1600 as many have had success with the corsair and Kingston counterparts but slower clockings..any thoughts? thanks.

1600Mhz does leave lots of room for overclocking, but with a memory multi of 6x, the cas 6 1333Mhz part is also a great choice.

Its what I plan to go with aiming for 4.4Ghz range,

I'm not completely familiar with all the bios tweaks and settings/multi's with the P6T yet. But if I was going with the 920 trying to achieve stable 4ghz, then the 1600 7-8-7 kit would be best or would you still go with the 1333 6-6-6 kit. I'm a bit confused by that because i thought we still had to overclock the mem on the 920? Correct me if I am mislead or misinformed in some way. Best, Mark

Overclocking the ram is an option.
Since to get 4.0Ghz, only 1200Mhz is required.

But next step would be 1600MHz. This would be the best option for 4Ghz.

I ordered the 998681 - 6GB (3x2GB) XP3-12800 8-8-8-24 1.6-1.65V on Friday, to go with my Gigabyte X58-UD5 mother board.. What is the best setting to run 3.6 and the get 1600 out of the RAM, or which is the best timing for the ram to run 3.6 and get the most out of the RAM.

Oh, upset about the shipping... I live in Denver, ordered Friday, shipped out Monday 12/01/08 due to me 12/04/08.. Three days to go 12 miles.. Could not get anyone on the phone. Going to FedEx today and pick up myself.. Wanted to pickup, but kept reading stock was low and wanted to get my order in, no option to pick up locally... Paid $9.99 to have to pick up 3 miles from shipping point. :(

With a core i7 920, using 180x20 for cpu, would result in 3.6Ghz
This leaves 8x multi, for the ram using 1440Mhz or
200x18 for 3.6Ghz on the cpu, with 8x multi on the ram to get 1600Mhz

Regarding shipping, not sure how to go about it since, thats normal shipping costs.

Thanks for the timing, I will try them asap.

As far as shipping, they allow you to pick up at there office, but no big deal.. Just was upset that it was going to take three days to get to me and I am only 10 to 15 miles away.

I will let you if it work.

With the timing i recieved, it is not stable at 3.6 or 3.4 If you have any ideas or suggestions please pass them on. This my second set as the first went bad. I should have said they will not run stable at 1600 at 3.6 or 3.4. Help.

first off, let me say I've been a huge fan of mushkin memory ever since I purchased the ddr2 xp series with the d9 chips.

with all that said, i'm in the market for some triple channels for the i7 (d0 stepping) rig that i'm building.

any word on when 998687 or 998679 will be available?

I'm looking for 6 (more) Gigs of the same 998679 P/N myself. Everybody's OOS and I'd love to fill the remaining slots on my board. These modules are great.

This is going to work brilliantly with i7 965. Slapping 12Gbs of the XP3-10666 in my rig. Give it a nice jolt. Then O/C the CPU to 4.0 Ghz. I'll leave the rest of the computer out since it'll hurt some feelings. :)

I have a question please, if i plan on getting a Core i7 2.66 GHZ proccessor and want to get 1600 DDR3 rams, if i want to put 12 GB of the mushkins in there, what should be done so that the motherboard and Processor dont fry? The Motherboard is the Ex58 extreme gigabyte and the processor i already mentioned, i will be getting the triple channel packs of 6 Gb in each ram, all 6 rams should be vol. 1.65 or less or what? When i was looking into getting rams i was told to get the kingston tripple channel rams, they are set at 1333 and was told there is no problem in adding another 6 GB of ram in the future with this ram but i heard the mushkins were perfect if i want to overclock the rams and the 920 proccessor, so can anyone give me a lowdown on what to do because i really have no idea and i want to get the right things ,thanks. I also plan on getting the 3d mercury for liquid cooling the proccessor if i want to do future overclocking. Thats why i am seriously considering getting the mushkin rams.
